Exploring Charleston #4 / Weekend Update

It seems as though I am always a week behind when I'm trying to blog!

Last Tuesday was the Charleston Blog Society's Blogger's Night Out at Open Door Shop.
This was kind of an embarrassing outing for me. I was ten minutes early and walked around the was all dark with the exception of an artist working in her studio. The doors were all locked too. I waited until a few minutes after 6 and thought maybe I'm not in the right spot so I drove the other way on Meeting Street where the addresses all got smaller (of course!).  So I drove back to the original location and lo and behold, the doors were now wide open and people were mingling downstairs. Ha. If it's going to happen to someone, it's going to happen to me!!

Open Door Shop's owners were very sweet and understanding though. They have so many fun goodies and specialize in wedding registries online so if you're getting married, go check them out!!

After I left the BNO, I stopped by the newly renovated in-line hockey rink in North Charleston.
It looks so good, y'all. I cannot wait to get out there and play.  All the guys I play with did double takes when I showed up since I was in a dress AND make-up. They're used to me being make-up free, smelly and in full goalie gear.

On Wednesday night, my husband and I met up with Meg and her husband at The Alley downtown for bowling. I am totally kicking myself for not getting a picture of the four of us but I did get a picture of the yummy food!
Husband went the healthy route with a turkey and avocado sandwich...
...while I ate Fried Oreos (in my defense, I had already had dinner so this was dessert)!

We had a great time with Meg and Mike and hope to hang out with them again soon!!

On Thursday, we finally tried out Philly's in Summerville.
This is the "small" 8 inch cheese steak. It was soooo big. My stomach nearly exploded but it was delicious.

On Saturday, I met my mom down in Savannah to give her the kids for Spring Break.  I was originally going to go to Florida too but my husband is in a week-long school and we didn't want to board the dog.  So I've got lots of fun (not) projects planned for the week.  Like re-caulking the shower. I know you're jealous.

After I got back from Savannah, my husband and I headed to one of our favorite restaurants, Taco Boy.
The wait for inside was 45 minutes so we made the brilliant decision to eat outside. In the wind. There are heat lamps but all the tables near those were full.  But it's Taco Boy and you will suffer for their yummy food.

Sunday we decided to take our dog downtown for the first time. We were a little hesitant to go to busy parts since this was her first outing so we headed to The Citadel since I'd never been to the campus before.

The campus is nice and quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Bailey did good and didn't pull too much on the leash.
We then decided to go check out Brittlebank Park which is about 2 minutes away from The Citadel.

Another nice spot to walk the dog. Bailey met another dog up close and got a little hyper but not too bad.

Overall, it was a really nice weekend. My husband and I definitely don't spend enough time together (minus the kids) so it was really fun!

What were you up to this weekend? Anything fun? :)

Exploring Charleston #3

As I mentioned in my last post, my in-laws were here last week so when it wasn't raining, we were able to get out and do a couple of touristy things.

Our first stop was the Charleston Tea Plantation. I had heard about the plantation but kept forgetting about it until Meg wrote about it back in February.
We took the 15 minute factory tour and learned quite a bit about how tea is made. It was actually pretty interesting.
My in-laws and husband love tea so they enjoyed all the free samples available in the gift shop.
I tried some tea (I don't like tea so everyone was super proud of me) but spent most of my time walking around looking at all the cute stuff to buy.
Loving all this nautical stuff:

We also got a pic with the frog out front:
We ended up not taking the trolley tour around the plantation and instead headed to Angel Oak since my husband had never been (took in-laws on previous trip).
Angel Oak is amazing and a picture definitely does not do it justice. You just have to see it in person to appreciate it!

On a side note, that jacket I'm wearing above is sooo cute.
I think it might be sold out now but I snagged it on sale last week for $15.

My son's birthday was on Saturday. All of his grandparents were in town so we loaded up three cars and headed paintballing at Paintball Charleston.

We did the low impact paintballs because it was recommended for younger kids... Those suckers sting so I can only imagine how the bigger paintballs feel coming at you faster.  We all had a blast though. If you ever go, I highly recommend doing a private party and taking 10 or so people.  The recreational paintballing was so packed! And if you're going with guys, tell them to wear a cup! HA!

The rest of the weekend, we took it easy.
Played some cards with the family (and cat).
 Ate at Newk's
 Sunday's rainy OOTD
Visited Charleston Bakery and munched on danishes and this new muffin they had :)

Hope y'all had a great weekend and are enjoying your week so far!

Charleston Fashion Week - Opening Night

This is a little overdue, but I had my in-laws in town last week and had very little computer time. Sorry!!

Last Tuesday, my husband and I went to opening night of Charleston Fashion Week.
I wore this ^. I picked up that faux laser cut leather skirt at Off Fifth. It is soooo soft and was 40% off. You can see it here.  It is even cheaper on-line :)

 Inside the Belk Tent
Inside the non-VIP pre-party tent.  It was too hot in there for us. We went and sat outside on a bench until show time.

This was in between the runway tent and the model tent. I wish I could've snuck into the model tent to see everyone's hair and make-up being done.
Getting ready for the show to start.  I saw several Charleston Bloggers front-row once the show started and Craig Conover from Southern Charm.
This is pretty much the best shot I got with my iphone all night. I kept mumbling to my husband about how I need a real camera.  Sigh.

The show was a lot of fun. I had been teasing my husband about just wanting to go to see the models so, of course, the first show would be a lingerie show!  HA!

If you're local, did you go to the show? Leave me a link so I can check out your post! :)

Have a great week y'all

Second Sunday and Vineyard Vines

This was a pretty laid back weekend. My husband and I were kid-free on Friday night and you know what we did? Picked up food at McDonald's and were asleep by 9:30.  Party animals.
My son was sick all day Saturday so when Sunday rolled around, I made a break for it by heading downtown for Second Sunday on King Street with my daughter and her friends.

We also had a chance to finally pop in the new Vineyard Vines store.
Y'all. I wanted everything.
We ran around like kids in a candy store looking at everything. Here are some of my favorites:

There were so many other fabulous things! I can't wait to go back!

WILW: Simply Southern

One of my favorite t-shirt brands is Simply Southern. I first bought the brand through their  Etsy shop but now, I typically by it from South Carolina store Palmetto Moon because we have a couple nearby.

Here are some of my Spring shirt picks:

Have you ever heard of Simply Southern? Do you own any of their shirts or other products?

Have a great day y'all!
